#ChillyChallenge - Join my team!

Happy Wednesday my lovelies!

I cannot believe it's December already - it'll be 2013 before we know it (unless you buy into the end of a circular calendar mumbo-jumbo) and then it'll be time for those New Year's resolutions about eating healthier and working out more!

For the last two years, I've kicked off the year with a road race on New Year's Day and 2013 will be no different!

This year I'll be meeting up with some of the fabulous New England Tough Chiks at the Lowell 1st Run for a fast 5k (with a pretty sweet finisher medal) followed by delicious food and of course, beer! If you're within driving distance of northern Massachusetts, I highly recommend this race!

The Lowell 1st Run will be the first 3.1 of MANY miles to be logged in January as part of a little competition that Amy from Running Escapades and I are putting together - and I want YOU to join me!

That's right! We're challenging you to lace up those kicks and join us in the first ever #ChillyChallenge! 

Whether you walk, run or log miles on the elliptical machine, our challenge will help you to bust those winter blues!

So, what do you do?

Pick a Team: It’s a competition. Are you Team Running Escapades or Team Purple Giraffe?


Read our bios at the end of this post. To pick your team, visit the Chilly Challenge spreadsheet and sign up. Then get ready to log as many miles as you can (unless you're on Team Escapades, in which case, don't run at all!)

Run: Starting January 1, get your butt moving! Run, walk or move as often as possible.

Report: Log your miles on the Chilly Challenge spreadsheet. Update your miles and stay accountable to your teammates on Twitter by using hashtag #ChillyChallenge #TeamEscapades or #TeamGiraffe 

Tell Your Friends: The bigger the team, the better the chances of winning! Tweet, get your Facebook friends in on the competition - tell everyone you know to join the challenge (preferably Team Giraffe, haha)!

What do you get for all this hard work? 

Moving: January sucks. It'll suck a whole lot less if you stay moving through the month instead of going into hibernation on your couch. Especially when you're hitting the beach for spring break or family vacation come March or April. 

Motivation: It's easy to stay motivated when it's a gorgeous day outside, but when it's cold, raw and dreary out, it's not nearly as easy! That's where we come in - stay motivated for your team and for your chance to WIN!  

Your Best Happy Self: Exercise releases endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Get moving!

Favorite distance: 5 miler at the moment - training for my first half marathon!

Mantra: Workin’ off my ass & toppin’ off my glass - everything in moderation... including moderation!

What I do when I’m not running: For my day job, I’m a Process Expert at a healthcare company... and I blog at TPG, of course!

Why you should be on my team: I’m may never win any land speed records while running, but I sure do have fun - running in costumes, running for beer, being a complete goofball - why WOULDN’T you want to be on my team?!
